It's time for DjangoCon US again. We're excited to learn, share knowledge, take in Chicago once more, and catch up with old friends and new faces alike.
Lincoln Loop has attended or sponsored most DjangoCons, going all the way back to the first one in California in 2008, where our founder, Peter Baumgartner, gave an early-career lightning talk. We hitched ourselves to the Django rocket early, and like so many others in the room this year, we watched our careers take off in part to this reliable framework and its charmingly weird, welcoming community.
DjangoCon is where a lot of that happened. We learned to work a booth, order swag people actually wear, and talk to total strangers. We met clients and built a network in a room with none of the usual conference sharp elbows. And a few of us finally beat a fear of public speaking.
Every year since, choosing Django has been a no-brainer.
In nearly 20 years, our founding team of bright-eyed, overly optimistic, ragtag young adults became old-timers. Some of us moved countries, raised kids from diapers to adulthood, suffered profound loss, and jumped on opportunities we never saw coming. Through all of it, Django was there, a reliable fixed point while everything around it changed. We kept building on it, showing up for it, and staying connected to the community that formed around it.
The tools we choose shape our lives and our work. We are who we are, in part, because Django was there for our coming up.
We want the next group of bright-eyed optimists to get the same shot we did. So we'll keep showing up: for Django, for the community, and for whoever's giving their first nervous lightning talk this year.
